Purple Fairy House with words Make it Magical
Fairy House built at Maddy Magoo Fourways #MakeItMagical
Kids Emporium in conjunction with Maddy Magoo has come up with a brilliant concept. A Fairy Building Workshop. This works great for a children's party and any other excuse for doing something with your child. Think Dad and daughter dates, as well as with besties or your mates. Yes, even the guys would love this! ;-)

Avalanche party

Avalanche, parties
Avalanche
Little Miss was invited to an Avalanche party on Saturday! It was a real treat, and it was lots of fun!
It is especially nice for the older kids, but I have heard of toddlers going to these parties as well. (I presume they would not let them go down from the top?)
party pinata, party, pinata,
Avalanche party pinata

Little Miss struggled with a bit of vertigo in the beginning, but to the end of the two hours she went down again, and again...

I love party ideas that's not at home, but where the kids get to do fun activities!

Children's party at Granny's Garden

Little Missy was invited to a party at Granny's Garden.

It is the perfect venue for a party. They have inside and outside entertainment for the children. The entire house has been transformed into a children's paradise.

The indoor play area consists of a Sand Room, Computer Room, Dress up Room, Fantasy Room, Nintendo Wii, Beach Sand Room, Arts & Crafts and Pottery Painting.

Dress Up Room
Bunnies
Snow White

The outdoor play area has the following on offer: Zip Line Slide, Bike Track, Trampoline, Play House, Jungle Gym, Modular Play Area and swings.

The zip line slide was the most popular with every one sliding again and again...

The best of course was having a nice cup of coffee while other people were busy running around after the children...
Definitely a parent's paradise!

iCarly's Spaghetti Tacos are great for children's parties

Last Saturday we were invited to a 7-year old party where the requested food was Spaghetti Tacos, as was demonstrated on iCarly.

We were all a bit taken aback by the strange combination, but it was surprisingly good.
The children loved it, of course!

It is also not that difficult to prepare to put together:

Spaghetti Tacos

Ingredients:
(quantities depending on number of party goers – 1 Taco for each child, and up to 3 for the adults)

spaghetti
beef mince
freshly prepared tomato and onion sauce
corn taco shells
grated cheddar cheese
guacamole

Directions:

Prepare spaghetti.
Prepare mince with seasoning, but not too spicy for the children.
Prepare tomato sauce with fresh chopped tomatoes and onions and seasoning.
Prepare guacamole with extra chillies kept separate for the adults.

Put all the prepared ingredients on the table, and party-goers assembly their own tacos.
Warning: Prone to breaking and spillage! (Keep the serviettes close-by!)

There is another version of a Hungry Spaghetti Tacos recipe on the iCarly Wiki.

It is worth a try! And a re-try!

Finally, a Tinker Bell Party!

We pulled off a Tinker Bell Party with only a few friends.

Most of her friends are away on holiday already. (The problem of having a birthday so late in December...)

5 party packs with 5 fairy wands, and chocolate cupcakes with pink sprinkles!

That's all that was needed to have a Tinker Bell Fairy who loved feeling special for the day!

The long weekend - RIM

We had a public holiday last Thursday, and of course it meant a loong weekend to most of us who could take the Friday as leave.

It flew by, but it was lovely. As always when you have a long weekend... (Sic! Sorry, it must seem so boring...)

It feels like we did not do something major, like climbing mountains or going away camping or on holiday, but we had a great time.

In these little moments we are making great memories, and I want to record some of these special times. To not Rest-In-Peace "RIP", but to Rest-In-Memories "RIM".

It was a bit of a cold weekend (Yes, Sis, we are really cold here, although you do not believe us sitting there in London! ;-) )

- But we could make our potjie (stew) outside on Thursday!

(The dog was not part of the potjie...
She enjoyed the sun and sitting on our laps)

- I had a special day with the two girls going shopping on Friday.
We went in search of tekkies for the youngest, and it seems she is just as full of whims as the eldest about her choice of clothes. I think next time I will just buy the needed item of clothing and put it in her cupboard. I does not help asking her what she wants, because it is almost 100% totally impracticable and unwearable or way too expensive!

- We took the youngest to the movie Brave with Princess Merida on Friday evening. I thought it was a  bit of a dark plot, but loved the message portrayed in the movie of girls making up their own minds about their own destiny. The Toddler also wore her 3D glasses for most part of the movie, and it seems she enjoyed it more than I would have thought. There was no nightmares afterwards. The dark forest and the bears did not have a negative impact!

- We had a children's party on Saturday. I am beginning to get used to it, because it is just such fun for the little ones!

- The two sisters bonded so well over the weekend. Whenever we want to know where the little one is, we just go to her sister's bedroom... She is never far away from her big sister!

- It was our turn to drive back to university, and the little one said she misses her sister, and she should not stay away for very long!
Luckily, the student gets a ride every weekend to come back home!

Walking back with her suitcase on the right

- See you next weekend, Weekend!

A Pirate Party at Ennis

We were invited to a Pirate Party at our local Ennis Garden Centre in Honeydew.
I was not even aware that they had a play area for the kids, but I have found my second best place to go with kids...

(Papachinos is still a firm favourite as our little bit of children's heaven!)

But Ennis will definitely come in handy if you get tired for waiting in queues (as you do at Papachinos), or of too much of shrill voices... Because it is smaller and quaint!

There was a happy pirate birthday boy!

And a pirate ship birthday cake!

With loads of "treasures"

Aye! It was a mighty fine party for this Beauty!

A dinosaurus party

Annie's Barnyard in Fourways
The Toddler's idea of a party was dancing with her sister...
That's what she kept on telling us when we told her we are going to Kyle's party on Saturday!
(The two previous adult parties that she attended with us included dancing, but with disco lights...)

Former children's parties doesn't count, as it did not get assimilated in her conscious little brain!

I was worried about going to a children's party myself, but it turned out to be great fun taking pictures and seeing how much the children enjoyed themselves. They actually kept us so busy, that we did not have time to ponder on the enjoyment of children's parties.

The Dinosaurus Party of Saturday is a party not easily forgotten:

All kinds of animals, such as sheep & swans to look at.
A grass-cutter which pulled some of the bigger children,
but it was fine for the younger ones to sit on
Swings

Trampoline

Alfonso the Conjurer with the birthday boy doing a trick

Face paint by Alfonso
The Toddler refused each time when it was her turn...

The party sweets

Dinosaur play
Dinosaurus cake

Eating cake with friends
Balloon sword
That was a hectic party!

How am I going to live up to this? (Ka-ching!)
