Colour and learning - STABILO BOSS PASTELS are perfect!

I know that colours have a huge impact on my own learning. I have never tested it, but that's one of the major ways I learn and take note. We have signed up Miss Fine for a study course. Grade 4 is THE year they are starting with tests. The study course promises to find her best ways to study. (I hope!) Fortunately the parents will be able to sit in as well. I will let you know if such a course is worth it. And if colours have such an impact as I think it do? (Google says it does)

Holi Festival of Colours - worth putting it on your bucket list!

It was fun! It was full of colours! It was loud!
It was MUSIC!

I am glad we had the opportunity to attend the a Holi Festival of Colours in Joburg. I had won it over on Jenty's blog. The Student booked some early bird tickets, and we crashed their party! No!

We got some photos evidence of being splashed in colours and we ate and we drank and laughed at all the outfits and antics! And did some jigging!
And threw the colours!

Hubby and me also got a chance for an extra date night when we left the party for a quiet dinner and drinks! 

It was a lovely experience altogether!

(And after washing all those whites yesterday, we managed to salvage most of our white clothes for summer! Win-win!)

Holi smokes! We are going to the Holi Festival of colours!

Does it say something about me that I am very excited about it?

The Holi Festival of Colours Joburg is on the 23rd of August.

I won the tickets over at Jenty's blog.

I saw yesterday on Facebook that the general age group falls between late teens and young adults!

Ouch! We are going to skew the numbers!


Never growing old! Never!


A question to somebody who have been there: I have hard contact lenses. Can I keep it in, or would it be better to go with my glasses? Or should I wear a diving mask?

Not colour blind!

The first eye test went very well. I had made the appointment because I suspected our 4-year old is colour blind.

 

Little Missy told me she was afraid, and I had to promise I would hold her hand.

She was a star! The optometrist spoke only in English to her, and she even tried to give the answers back in English as well. She enjoyed all the machines, and different glasses, and could perfectly identify all the objects on the screen.

 

The optometrist gave her only 4 colour patterns to identify.

She had to coax her to identify a house in one of the colour patterns. (Which makes me feel a little bit uneasy...)

But, according to the optometrist: She is not colour blind, and we should not worry about it anymore. She says that she would not have been able to see any pattern in the 4 colour charts had she been colour blind.

She also carried on for quite a bit about girls and that it is very rare that they test positive for colour blind...

I will keep an eye (pun intended!) on the situation, but for now we will trust the judgement of the optometrist!

Yay!

I am relieved!
