Take a Walk in the Park Day - Dog Parks in Johannesburg

Walk the dog on Take a Walk in the Park Day
Every day should be a Take a Walk in the Park Day, but this specific day is coming up on 30 March. I am not sure that this a thing in South Africa, but the global village makes it possible for us to celebrate as well. Especially if for a good cause.

On Sunday the Muddy Puppy Dog Walk will be at The Wedge Outdoor Park. We have been invited to bring our pavement special dog for the event. Muddy Puppy is partnering with Pedigree Dentastix and Rodeo treats.

George Hay Park - a lovely outdoor venue for the family

We spent the rest of Election Day last week at George Hay Park in Parkview. There were food trucks parked for the day.
It is a stunning suburban park run by the resident's association of the area.

It was packed with families, but there were enough space for everybody, and the children could play while their parents enjoyed a picnic.

Little Missy wanted a kite for ages, and we finally had a place to fly it!

The play grounds (there are a couple in the park) kept all the children busy!

Definitely a place to go back to!

Sunday winter walk in the park

The park lost a lot of its glamour when looking at photos of a walk in the park during the summer months...
But we still had a lot of fun walking with our two dogs.
(Shame, we don't do it enough. The one got the jitters when she saw her leash, and howled all the way on our way to the park.)

A walk in the park

It's possible, even in Johannesburg!

We went to a nearby park we have always just passed by, and it turned out to be a great place for a Sunday afternoon walk.

I remember the excitement of going to a park in our childhood years... The swings and the open field of grass.... Pure joy!

The Wilgeheuwel Park turns out to be much nicer than my childhood parks we used to go.
I Googled it and apparently it was built in a day as part of an "Extreme Park Makeover" project to bring "new environmental zones to busy developments".

I would not go and swing my valuables, but it seems very safe, and the dogs had a great outing as well!

Joburg, I'm impressed!
