Week Two has been done and dusted. It feels like it has never been Holidays at all!
The Toddler had her first class of the year at Tiny Tumbles. She has been missing it, because she was trying to do head stands and tumbles at home...
A toddler friend celebrated his two year old birthday, and Mieka got very excited about giving his present to him. I love to see how she is able to get excited about other people, and not only focus on self most of the time...
I attended a Stork Party today. Yes, I know! One of my pet hates! But it was for a dear friend, and I was very glad I went to it! It was nice to see my friend again! I took the Toddler with, and we could excuse ourselves when the tantrums got a bit much... (The tactic works very well! *Evil wink*)
Have yourselves a lovely week!

5 Tips on how to survive Stork Parties
I am not into Stork Parties at all! It is one of my pet hates. Is there something wrong with me?
Having to go to a function where you mostly do not know the rest of the women. Where you have to Oooh! and Aaah! at every little present being unwrapped and at the cute baby clothes and gadgets being held up.
And having to listen to horrendous birth stories…
And then getting yourself terribly uptight when you are not being acknowledged for a present you put a lot of effort into selecting… (I am fickle that way!)
I have started to compile a list on how to survive it, (and actually enjoy it). Because sometimes you have to go because it is a dear friend or family member…
5 Tips on how to survive Stork Parties:
- When you are struggling to conceive.
- When you have had a miscarriage.
2. It is great when there is somebody familiar to start a conversation with. Or make a new friend! You can catch up while the proceedings are underway.
3. Hover near the beverages and food. Keep yourself occupied that way, especially when alcohol is available!
4. To cope with the horrendous birth stories, tell your own, and make it as gruesome as possible! Enjoy the look of horror on the face of the pregnant woman. (You are bad, Karen!)
5. When you have other children, bring them along! It makes it easy to excuse yourself while running after them, and also to go earlier…
Do you have more tips to add to my list?

5 Tips on how to survive Stork Parties:
- To have valid reasons for declining the invitation. The following are totally acceptable and should be made law! You don’t have to say anything when saying you can’t come:
- When you are struggling to conceive.
- When you have had a miscarriage.

Jinxed weekend
| Mieka at Tiny Tumbles this morning |
The day started late. Not unusual for us. We normally manage to get us out of the door at a manageable hour. As soon as I got in the car, I noticed that I forgot to comb my hair. Luckily I had that quick check in the mirror...
I had cereal in a bowl on my front seat in the car. As I started to drive, I realised it was a big mistake. Cereal and milk were spilling. I tried to eat some on the way to the day care, but Mieka spotted it. At day care I had to give her a few spoonfuls before she was satisfied.
My car’s petrol indicator came on during the drive and I had to stop for petrol. That translates into a definite late! The petrol attendant also told me that three of my car’s wheels were at a higher level than it should be... Worrisome! We trust those guys too easily. I have been trying to remember where I had filled my car the previous time, because it was not at the usual place. I will not go there again!
I missed out on my morning coffee with colleagues because I was late. I also noticed that my scheduled post at 7 am did not go up. Thanks Blogger! I had to post it manually, something which I try to avoid at the office.
The rest of the day was not that bad... A meeting was cancelled, and on a Friday it’s a bonus!
We had to go to our nearby Mall last night because I had to buy a stork party present. Not my favourite activity! I love buying and giving the clothes, but stork parties is not my thing! (Only for my best best friends. Maybe!)
Today was the stork party. It took up our whole Saturday, because it is a whole hour and half drive away. Luckily there was no funny stuff, and for once I was glad that I had to attend to the toddler the whole time. She got a whole lot of attention from me! Dries found Barista (coffee) Pinotage red wine at the nearby shop, and that helped a LOT!
Now there is a wonderful lazy Sunday to look forward to. Dries is planning a nice meal, and we can chill for the day!
