Grab the summer!
Saturday was such a grab-worthy day!
The Voortrekkers had a day planned with water sports, and braai bread creations...
We were planning to go to the gymnastics at 11, but this was just a too good opportunity to not make use of everything that they had planned for the children. We are never disappointed with the Voortrekker (similar than Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts) activities!
(I can just imagine how much we would have enjoyed this when we were small!)
The children could not get enough of sliding down the water slide and playing in the water. All the parents had to "extract" their children, and it looks as if most of them were not happy to leave. The children also took part in a braai (barbecue) bread competition over fire. Little Miss and her Dad planned it for the week before the time!
Do you also sometimes skip a activity for another? Do you feel guilty about it, especially when you have paid?
Little Miss, I hope you remember this day?

It was a good weekend
It was a very uneventful weekend! Also NOT!
While telling Little Miss of all the things she must remember about the weekend for her weekly feedback in class, I realize that it was actually a very good weekend!
We started off the weekend with an unexpected date night! Little Miss was asked to a sleepover, and we suddenly had a night to ourselves. We had tapas at one of our favorite restaurants, Tei Avon in Victory Park.
Little Miss really enjoyed her sleepover and it seems there were no melt-downs or problems.
Little Miss also had her first Voortrekkers meeting of the year on Saturday which consisted of lots of water sport activities!
Little Miss took a long afternoon nap, and Hubby and I could catch up with a little bit of movie binge-watching on Saturday afternoon.
We were able to braai (barbecue) on Saturday evening and enjoyed sitting outside for long before it started to rain later on.
Little Miss entertained us with card tricks for the weekend. She picked up some pointers at the BFF.
We also took the very excited dogs for a walk on Sunday after church.
Little Miss told us that she was separated from her friend in Sunday School because they sang too loud. They were instructed to sang at their utmost, and when they did they were moved away from each other! We had a good giggle about it, thinking about Little Miss being in trouble for singing?
And for the rest of the weekend we had creations like this going up everywhere in our house! ??
But it kept her occupied!
I hope you had a great weekend too?

Friends and play dates
Friends!
They were counting the "sleeps" until their play date on Saturday! They were both as excited as could be.
I had to remind Little Missy not to announce it to everybody at school, because her other friends would feel excluded, but I don't think it helped! That was all they were talking about!
The friend were allowed to do gymnastics with Little Missy, and after that we did a McD's on the way home.
They kept themselves busy the whole afternoon, and all we heard was the giggling from the bedroom.
It reminded me how important these play dates are, and that we should try and schedule more of them. Especially for single children who don't have the regular interaction with brothers and sisters!

Santana - an unexpected weekend

FNB Stadium
As I was eyeing the concert since it was announced (but did not have the budget), and trying to win some tickets, we were more than excited!
Luckily The Student was home for the weekend and she could baby-sit Little Missy. They were both not impressed. The Student and Little Missy wanted to go as well! But I don't think Little Missy would have lasted for the whole evening...
It was rainy and it was cold!
But it was more than worth it in the end!
Johnny Clegg took up the stage before Santana, and it was my first time that I saw him life and in action! We have been listening to him since we were at school, and he is still rocking it! He also got two acts with Carlos Santana in his show. Amazing!
Carlos Santana performed most of his well-known songs with two male singers on stage, accompanied by great musicians! Stunning! Stunning!

A quiet weekend... The best!
Puzzle building
Breakfast at Second Cup and photo taking
Nothing that restores and gives so much peace than a bit of quiet family time!
The Little Missy spent a lot of time on her art works, and she came up with this all on her own.
She ordered me each time to take a photograph (where we usually have to beg for her to pose for a photo).
I added the second title. Maybe we have a budding artist in our midst?

Weekend of three
The student had to stay in for the weekend at the university, so we had a weekend with the Toddler only.
We missed her, but luckily the holidays are right around the corner...
It started with a braai....
The last gymnastics before the holidays.

Art work by the Toddler on a lazy Saturday afternoon...
(It was worth a good half an hour of peace.)

Scissor & lots of paper on the floor
We discovered Primi Life at Lifestyle which has a lovely play area for children.
Sunday was spent in the beautiful Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens.
We saw the eagles, and breathed a bit of fresh air.
I don't know why we don't come here more often, it is so beautiful!

Bears for the Teddy Bear Clinic
Each year Tammy Smith of Tiny Tumbles has a social responsibility programme where she asks that each child bring a bear of the child to donate to the clinic.
The Teddy Bear Clinic is
Some children find it very difficult to part with their beloved bears (there are some tears), but for the most part they are happy to give, especially when told that they are giving to children who do not have bears.
We had our bear-giving on Saturday.
The children first had to do some exercises with their bears, and then it all went onto the pile of bears.
The Teddy Bear Clinic is
a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring abused children are protected and rehabilitated. We provide therapy, counseling, assistance, love, comfort, safety and ongoing support to children who have been abused. The Teddy Bear Clinic does not only work with children, but with parents and communities empowering them with knowledge and skills we can help put an end to child abuse.
