Mid-year exams - a balancing act

Rope walking

We are in the thick of Grade 5 exams. Miss Fine tells me each day that she did not prepare enough, and that she does not feel good about the upcoming papers. We try to help her as much as possible, but ultimately she is the one who needs to get the material into her head...

We are still trying to find the best way to learn, and help her learn. To find that perfect balance of help, but also letting her take over her studies independently. The underlying anxiety also doesn't help, but the best we can do for it is to prepare enough. (Although, there is never an enough for the highly strung...)

We are so glad about the study course she did in Grade 4. We are really seeing the benefits of some of the methods she learned, and are using right now. That is a really good investment. To learn how to learn.

I do think that exams are much harder and more stressful than it used to be. I think the content is too much. Do they really remember the overload of content pushed on them?

The parents stress just as much. We still have 3 subjects left, and it is all the heavy content subjects, such as History.

Send help!

Good luck!

  1. Thanks for the info on the study course! We are looking for exactly that at the moment. I feel like I need to go to a support group after this exam.
