Good news for parents: Sofia the First second season launching on Saturday!

Little girls love Sofia the First!

What's not to love? A girl from the village who becomes a princess through her mother's marriage to the King AND an amulet that makes her speak to animals AND flying horses AND coaches AND fairies AND dressing up....

But parents of little girls have seen too much of the first season already! At least five times of each episode, if not more than 100 times already...

The best news (EVER!) is that they are launching season two of Sofia the First on Saturday 27 September at 9 am on DSTV Channel 309 (Disney Junior).

Little Miss was invited to a Disney Enchanted High Tea last Friday to celebrate the launch of season two. It was at the beautiful Clico Boutique Hotel in Rosebank.

Little Miss had a blast (and Mom too)!

The Princess is on her way

On her way to rule the kingdom

It happens each and every day.
The cuteness that she is!

I want to record everything she does, and says, but most of the time we have to smile (laugh inwardly, if we can manage it), and we forget about it.
Because the next day she is cute and funny all over with a new cute and funny!

She was making plans since yesterday...
When she got home, she made the paper crown all by herself.
She told me she wanted to wear a princess dress and shoes, and we had to set it aside last night.

I sneaked on a pair of boots this morning, but when she looked down and saw it... Instant disapproval! So the princess shoes (with the heels) are on, with back-up shoes again in the bag.
But I was adamant that the pants must stay on underneath the dress! It is cold here in the mornings!

Her dad says she walked all the way to class, very impressed with herself. (She usually wants to be carried)
Basking in the comments of the parents, and teachers...

Princess in the making!

A 3-year old Princess

Our little girl turned three yesterday! (So freaking crazy lightning speed fast!)

When we ask her how old she is, she still shows us four fingers, but I think it is in tune with her life!
Next year she is going to go to be with four-year old children in a new school...

I am beginning to think that it is not such a bad thing to have a birthday in December. We are on holiday, and there are presents all around!

She gets extra special attention!

The day started with presents...

It was followed by a walk at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens.

(We had a dark cloud hanging over the day following a phone call by the MIL to wish her granddaughter a happy birthday.
While she was speaking to me at the Gardens she started to scream! It was followed by silence!
It was extremely scary! With Hubby anxiously trying to phone his dad and mom...

It turns out she was hit over the head and robbed of her cell and hand bag! Back to reality!?
She's got a broken nose, but she will be okay. Scary stuff here!

We can't walk in the streets while talking on a cell...

We can't walk in the street! Period!)

But:
Later on we had a party at one of or favourite places: Papachinos.

With pizza making...

The cake and candles

There was also another casualty on the day.
Friend Kyle broke a small bone in his foot while jumping down... (Boys...?)
Sorry, Kyle! Apparently it is three weeks in a cast!

Luckily our fairy princess had a lovely time.

You are so cute, my little girl!
I hope I will remember how cute you are right now!

Happy birthday!!

The best present ever from Father Christmas

We thought that this year would be different. She is nearly 3 and the promise of a Father Christmas with presents made her very excited before the time...

But when the Toddler's name was called, she refused and screamed again! (I did not even get a photo with her near Father Christmas, because she was clinging to me and pulling me in the other direction!)

Shame, even Father Christmas asked me if it's the beard...

Maybe next year?

But she loves her present from Father Christmas. It is the perfect gift for a little princess!
The Toddler has been walking around all weekend with the dress-up shoes and her tiara.

Movie Clip Monday #20 - Wearing a crown

A very short clip: The matric dance made a huge impression on the Toddler. She insisted on a Princess dress as well, with the crown!

She was not as keen to pose for photos on the day, but very impressed with her big sister!

The Toddler was 31 months yesterday! It is a very precious age. I love the vocabulary and the quirks of the little personality developing!

I hope we will be sensitive enough to allow her to develop fully as her own unique human being…

Because it is also a very difficult age! She pushes the boundaries the whole time. The question is how important some of those boundaries are? Where do we draw the line with regards the really important stuff?

Mama Poekie’s article at Authentic Parenting about the art of negotiation struck a cord! This is exactly what we are doing right now! We are trying to improve the art of negotiation to come to “an agreement that we all feel comfortable with.”

A case in point: the Toddler wants to look like a princess every day. What she thinks look like a “princess”, and what we think are totally different things! She went to sleep last night with summer sandals over socks… The Wordless Wednesday post of this week shows her where we got to a very amicable agreement! It is now mostly summer dresses over winter clothes…

I feel totally beat every night after her bath and negotiating to get her into a princess outfit that we both agree on. It doesn’t help for me to put the outfit on the bed… She checks it, and jumps down and goes to her cupboard and takes out something that she prefers. It is mostly the same dresses over and over again! She’s got a whole cupboard full of pretty clothes, but it does not fit her “princess”-style of clothing!

Phew! Breathe! It doesn’t matter, does it? It is not important, and I must keep reminding myself that…

Another very cute thing that she does now: She is definitely a Daddy’s girl. Whenever she watches or we read a story, and the princess finds her prince, she declares: “Sy het haar papa gekry!” (She has found her daddy!) Even with some love scenes on the television!

Love this girl, our little princess!
