Bambanani - Heaven for parents
I don't know why it has taken us so long to check out Bambanani in Melville, especially since we are always looking for new places to take the Toddler while we are able to enjoy our meals!
(You can only go so much to Papachinos, where they don't mind to be rude because they are so popular!)
The entrance does not look impressive, but when inside it looks calm and serene, and next time we will definitely try out the tapas while sitting inside.
We tried the outdoor area underneath the trees, where there are a wide variety of play areas for the kids. I am amazed at how much they have packed into the small area. There are balls, and climbing equipment for the older kids. Underneath the patio is a whole world of play rooms, such as a fully equipped play kitchen.
There are child minders who also look after the little ones.
And they make a great cuppa! We are definitely going back!

I started with two functions on Friday, but by six thirty we were home.
We had a weekend of rest and time with the family!
Some more of these kinds of weekends, please!!

We also went to check out Lemon Rose Farm, which we always drive by and say we should stop there one day...
We loved the garden restaurant area and the farm yard with the animals. Mostly because the Toddler assured us it is the "Zoo"while she thoroughly the animals and the play area. The chickens and ducks were walking between the tables.

Feeding the ducks at Rusty Hook
One of my happy childhood memories is feeding the ducks with my parents and grandparents at Florida Lake.
The excitement of a Sunday afternoon of collecting all the leftover bread and going for a ride to the lake...
Throwing bread crumbs to all the ducks that come swimming when they see that we have food...
That was fun!
Unfortunately Florida Lake is not a place that we want to go to any more. It feels unsafe, and the area has not been maintained. I do not know if there are still ducks in the area?
We found a place nearby which feels like getting a bit of nature, as well as giving the Toddler the opportunity to feed the ducks! At Rusty Hook.
I was a bit apprehensive that it would be "rusty", but it is a great restaurant and function venue in beautiful natural surroundings .
We will be back!

7 years
It’s been seven years since the day we got married. 1 May has been a very good choice. We’ve got Worker’s Day each year, a public holiday to celebrate our special day!
Thank you, Hubby, it has been a good seven years! It has flown by much too quickly! (Time flies when... Yes, that! Big smile!)
We are having so much fun!
The Teen reminded us that in other countries we get the opportunity to renew our vows. And of course, we all know about the seven-year-itch! Seven seems to be a good number to have reached!
Hubby gave me chocolate and flowers, and I had to make good with breakfast at Second Cup. I nearly forgot because I lost track of the days... I blame the vacation! I thought I still had until Monday!

Cherry on Top Coffee Shop
I was invited to a breakfast at a lovely place on Saturday morning: Cherry on Top. It is situated in suburban Kenmare, on the West Rand, in Krugersdorp. The photos tell some of the story. A house and gardens have been transformed into a picturesque setting for a memorable meeting place with friends and family.
We had egg-and-bacon baskets, which look like beautiful arrangements, and afterwards we had mouth-watering cake! I can only attest for these two items on the menu... It is divine!
It is a great place to take the little ones.
There are so many great places on our side of the world... I am going back to look at the menu again!

Van Gaalen Cheese Farm
| Van Gaalen Kaasmakerij |
The teen asked that we celebrate her upcoming 17th birthday with the family here. It was great fun, and the cheese platters are divine!
We did not know that there would be so many people there. They had a bicycle race event going down, and there were extra tents and music and people. And, of course, lots of bicycles! But it did not distract from a very nice outing!
It is winter here in South Africa, and there is a bit of a wind blowing, but we are still very lucky to be able to sit outside in the sun.
They have jumping castles and play gyms and a bit of animals for the children as well. The toddler enjoyed looking at the goats and pigs and ducks, and we all had to take turns to walk the Pointy Finger! Mieka is not impressed with jumping castles at this stage. Not too much of a downer – we are able to enjoy our lunch sitting at the table with the rest of the family. Not having to do the “jumping- castle- watch”! I know it is not going to last for ever... While it lasts, I am not complaining! (*Wink smile*)

Ship coming in (very soon)
This year I was already on a second boat cruise. This first one was the weekend on the ship, and three weeks back we were on a boat, The Spirit of Jen, on the Vaal River for a function of my hubby’s company.
I think that the universe is telling me something: Our Ship is coming in! ;-)
It was the first time I had the opportunity to visit Stonehaven on Vaal. Apparently it is the “largest Garden Restaurant in South Africa”. There is a large play area for children, with a jumping castle, a trampoline, a water slide, a swimming pool, a tree house and jungle gym. There is also an animal farm. It is a great place for the kids, and I will definitely bring my little one.
The function on the luxurious Vaal Cruiser, The Spirit of Jen, was a real blast. The boat had to leave an hour late because a contingent of the party goers was late. It got very cold on the deck as soon as the sun was beginning to go down, but inside it was warm, and the company and food was very agreeable! Very agreeable, indeed! There is a Jacuzzi on the deck, and I’m sure during the summer time it is a wonderful place to be!
Abbott and Crabb was the entertainment, with jokes and music. These guys are still very funny! They’ve been together for 20 years, and the audience enjoyed them thoroughly! Luckily no old stale jokes… The boat cruised around on the Vaal River for a couple of hours, and we enjoyed looking at all the “palaces” on the River’s edge!
Eish! That ship can dock very soon, please!
