Nerf Fest 2019 was the Nerf - in photos

Nerf Fest 2019 - girls preparing to shoot with Nerf Blasters
Nerf Fest 2019
Nerf Fest 2019 was awesome! The girls had so much fun. The competitor activities was all the rage, and the stunning GOG Lifestyle Park added to the fun of the day! This is not a Wordless Wednesday, but here are some of the photos. The heat on Saturday was the only reason we left. It was a scorcher of a summer's day!

There was 4 competitor's areas that the children had to complete. They were in a team of 5 each, and the Nerf Monsters (each team had to choose their own name) did a few good rounds. The last round was in the water area, and it was perfect to cool down after the exercises. The smaller children could also play in a number of areas, but I think it would be great if they get their own competitor slots, with parents running alongside them. A fellow blogger told me her son was so disappointed that he could not yet partake! (Just a suggestion?)

Birthday at Hard Rock Cafe in Johannesburg - Such a treat!

We celebrated The Eldest's birthday two years back at Hard Rock Café in San Antonio. We have never been to Hard Rock Cafe in South Africa, and this year we decided it was time! It's a thing to buy a t-shirt in a Hard Rock Cafes whenever you visit a city worlwide. The Eldest has a nice collection already, and she is planning to get some more... (*Thumbs!*)

We love the vibe and the food! It's an experience. They have a kiddies menu as well.

Transformers Animatronics - Guess who had the most fun?

Transformers Animatronics at Emperors Palace
I had won tickets to Transformers Animatronics through South African Mom Blogs. We had SO much fun!

Little Miss also enjoyed it, but not so much the mamarazzi trying to take photos of her with every Transformer Animatronics statue or with their gadgets! (Check the photos!) I mean, how many times do you get the opportunity to pose with the Transformers?

Hoener met die rooi skoene Movie - It's schweet!

Hoener met die Rooi Skoene Premiere at Cedar Square
Hoener met die Rooi Skoene - Translation: Chicken with the Red Shoes🐔👠
(What a crazy movie title, but all is revealed, don't worry!) This new Afrikaans movie starts to show in cinemas on 27 January.

We had the pleasure of attending the premiere at Cedar Square last night! We had a great time eyeballing our local celebrities!

The movie is fun and witty with eccentric characters which makes it well worth the watch! Luckily it is not slapstick humour. We enjoyed the first James Bond scene, and wish there were more of it. The movie could have been a bit shorter, but what do I know? (It was a weekday night, and we were tired!) Lizz Meiring is a genius with the way she portrays a character. This is good escapism, and one of our better Afrikaans movies!
The movie had English subtitles and I hope it will be released like that?

It’s not a children’s movie or a fairytale; neither a drama, but a thriller-comedy from renowned director and producer, Koos Roets.

“It’s an unusual, funny and clever murder mystery filled with unexpected twists and turns. It will keep you on the edge of your seat whilst laughing uncontrollably,” says Lizz Meiring, who is seen in the role of Bonnie van der Byl.

Hoener Met Die Rooi Skoene is magical and original with a cast of unique characters, perfectly suited for the film setting – Klaarstroom, a gem hidden in the heart of the Klein Karoo.

Bonnie is a receptionist at the internationally acclaimed De Waal Theatre Group. Whilst chatting away on the phone, as per usual, her boss, the successful, but unpopular businessman and impresario, Du Toit de Waal (Deon Lotz), is murdered.

Bonnie discovers him on the office table behind her with a dagger in his back.  She phones the police and then goes closer to the body to inspect the situation.  And of course, she collapses, as she always does.  She is woken by the flashlight of Constable Mickey Mentz (André Weideman), only to discover that the body is nowhere to be seen.

The perfect setting for a “who did it?” murder mystery filled with unexpected moments of laughter, twists and turns, orchestrated by Bonnie, her parrot Napoleon and the irritable, flammable, moody inspector, Captain Hendrik Greyling (Louw Venter).

When all the characters and their dirty secrets are brought together for cross examination, weird and wonderful secrets are revealed.
The local Afrikaans film industry is on fire!

Holiday blues after a week at the beach

We had the most wonderful week at the beach the previous week! We are lucky to have been able to go. I do love a beach holiday the most!

My brother joined us at the Kwazulu-Natal South Coast from Seattle. He is chasing a bit of sun as it is winter on that side and very cold now! It was lovely to have him there as well!

Little Miss had a great time! I asked her about her highlights. She only regrets that she did not get enough time in the waves, because it was windy at first! Swimming in the sea is the best! She also loved doing flips in the swimming pool with her dad and on her own. Also getting a tracing pad to do her sketches from her uncle.
(It's the little things that count!)

The Aloes

I know I should not be complaining, but it does not feel right to be back at the grind and working just before Christmas. Most people are only going on holiday now or over the Christmas/New Year period!

The only way I know now of how to cope with holiday blues is to page through our photos! I will be beach-spamming my Instagram account until the blues go away! (Sorry! Not sorry!)

Are you going on holiday, and where are you going?
What kind of holiday do you love the most?
Do you prefer to stay home during the holidays?

San Antonio visit 2015

How great is the new iOS 10 Memories with the new update on iOS? It comes with the most recent update on iPhones, iPad and the Mac. It opens up great memories.

I am only discovering it now, and loving it!

I am able to see group photos, place photos, "Best of the last 3 months",  as well as certain dates on my photo album.

The throwback Thursday is from last year's visit to San Antonio in America.
Good times, and good memories!

Maboneng is an experience

Johannesburg, markets, Joburg
Market on Main
We have always heard about Maboneng, Market on Main and Arts on Main.
We decided on Sunday to drive through for lunch and a bit of browsing.
It is a cultural experience of sounds, tastes and visual bombardments.

It is worth going, and it seems lots of people are doing the same on a Sunday.

It was packed!

We followed Waze to Fox Street, but there was no parking available and we had to park around the corner. Parking In Johannesburg city is still an issue to me, and I was glad my car was still there when we got back... (The only negative of this experience!)

Huawei P9 launched with magnificent camera features #OO

Huawei P9, cellphone, phone, Huawei, P9, P9 Plus, P9 Light,
Huawei P9 launch at The Sandton Convention Centre

The Huawei P9 launch last night was a WOW start for the Huawei P9 phones being launched in South Africa today. Glammer, glitz, surprises, fun and stunning food! We were totally impressed!

The Huawei P9 phone seems to be the phone you want when you are always taking photos and selfies. With your smartphone!

Huawei has reinvented smartphone photography by using Leica technology to combine two lenses. It incorporates colour and black and white to give a crystal clear picture and 270% more light. It also gives precise imaging when you want to shoot those fast-paced photos without having to take numerous photos to get one shot! With the phone you can get images as good as a professional photographer!!

The specifications can be found here: Huawei P9

Another one of the great phones to consider when you are in the market for a new smartphone! We will definitely consider it for its camera technology.

We are not selfie-worthy anymore, but even this phone made us look good last night! (Why did I not take more selfies, and captured it?)

This photo-op was done on a Huawei P9.

It was a RAD function:
