Metropolitan Health donation to help reduce burn-related mortality amongst children

Happy Human Rights Day! South Africa has a Bill of Rights that we can be proud off. The implementation of those rights are not what we have hoped for, but it makes me so happy when I hear about initiatives which took care of the rights of our children. Giving them the best medical care there is. The Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (CHBAH) Paediatric Burns Unit looks after young burn victims. Metropolitan Health has donated a cheque of R400 000 this week to help with sepsis related mortality, made possible by Surgeons for Little Lives.

Best for babes - Human milk is miracle milk #bestforbabes

Since I am passionate about breastfeeding and the benefit of it for babies and toddlers, I am sharing this initiative for Mother's Day in Canada and the United States.
The first Nationwide Miracle Milk Mother's Day Stroll will be held creating awareness that human milk helps save the lives of 500 premature infants that die annually.

I have a large number of readers from that part of our Globe, and I think it is wonderful that they are planning to highlight the importance of human milk to babies.

Coffee and cake while doing good - Bonus at the upcoming Grace Factory Social #GraceFactorySocial

The Grace Factory Social will be on the 13th of July at Jump 'n Play at the Northlands Corner Shopping Centre.
(Unfortunately only in Gauteng!)

There is an open invitation to all moms to bring their kids for a free entrance for the first 30 minutes at Jump 'n Play.

They are collecting used and new goods for orphanages and places of safety in Gauteng.

Check out their The Grace Factory website for all the drop-offs that they are happening.
It seems they are getting the right stuff to the right people.

There will be coffee and cupcakes and socialising!

And you will be doing a good deed by bringing a donation!

Nappies for those that do not get to grow out of it

We were just talking last night that it is been nearly a year that our little toddler has been nappy free.

 At that stage nobody was as surprised as the surprised mother that it went as smooth-sailing and that something just clicked!

It really puts a dent in your budget each month!

Stacey over at Living Lionhearts has worked out that she has spent nearly R27 000 for her Travis who is a special needs-child, and who is five and there is no end in sight!

She is supporting Nappy Run which starts in October until beginning of December.

Nappy Run 

The details:

" - The Nappy Run is a joint venture between the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa (NCPPDSA) and the National Association of Persons with Cerebral Palsy (NAPCP).
 - The campaign runs from 1 October to 3 December.
 - This year, the Nappy Run aims to collect 400,000 nappies for children with disabilities.
 - You can drop off your donation of nappies at any of the 350+ Alpha Pharm pharmacies across the country.
 - On National Children’s Day (Saturday 3 November), the Nappy Run 5km ‘fun run’ is taking place at the Johannesburg Zoo, starting at 9am. You run with a ‘doek’! Entrance is a pack of nappies."
