Defy #BakeADifference campaign launch

National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer is upcoming on 28 September. Defy is partnering with Cupcakes of Hope to raise funds for families for kids with cancer. This is such a cool initiative. I definitely won't be remembered for my culinary skills, but for this baking initiative it is real easy to support the campaign.

USE SOCIAL MEDIA TO RAISE FUNDS FOR CUPCAKES OF HOPE

Two ways to make it happen:

  • Bake and share your cupcakes on social media with the hashtag #BakeADifference

Defy will be donating R1 for every post shared with #BakeADifference. Thank you!

Cupcakes of Hope is a non-profit company, but they are reaching bigger targets each year to support kids with cancer. They assist between 50 and 70 little cancer patients at a time. Look out on 28 September to support them in donating cupcakes or buying cupcakes at your local mall. Such a small gesture makes such a big difference!

WARNING: Prepare to be spammed with pictures of cupcakes!

Disclaimer: I was invited to attend the launch of this campaign yesterday. I don't like baking, but I love to support great causes. (Luckily we were only expected to decorate a cupcake *phew!*)
I am not paid to write this, or to share my #BakeADifference posts.

I made cupcakes, but I did not win the Grundig oven #GrundigMomoftheYear

Grundig

The chance to win a Grundig multi-function oven of R8 900.00 does not come around regularly, so I was making cupcakes this past Saturday at the Johannesburg Culinary & Pastry School. The competition was run on my blog at the end of May: Mom of the year? Win a culinary experience and a chance to win a Grundig oven.

The Grundig Mom of the Year event was held at the Johannesburg Culinary and Pastry School in Johannesburg. Slaying in the kitchen is not one of my favourite pastimes, but for an oven I could break my usual misgivings.

I had such a great time working together with Brent Grung of Born Fabulous who had won the culinary experience through Tums 2 Tots Online. Luckily he's got chef skills, and that's why our cupcakes were perfect! Thanks, Brent!

The saved story of the day (SnapChat @karentoittoit) is uploaded.
I did not win the oven! (*sad face*)

Melissa Javan (the winner on this blog, but who could not be there), you missed out big time!

Coffee and cake while doing good - Bonus at the upcoming Grace Factory Social #GraceFactorySocial

The Grace Factory Social will be on the 13th of July at Jump 'n Play at the Northlands Corner Shopping Centre.
(Unfortunately only in Gauteng!)

There is an open invitation to all moms to bring their kids for a free entrance for the first 30 minutes at Jump 'n Play.

They are collecting used and new goods for orphanages and places of safety in Gauteng.

Check out their The Grace Factory website for all the drop-offs that they are happening.
It seems they are getting the right stuff to the right people.

There will be coffee and cupcakes and socialising!

And you will be doing a good deed by bringing a donation!

(While checking out a new venue for the kids...)

Morning's first photo at day care #18 - Cupcakes

Toddler with cupcakes, very impressed with herself because she is taking it to her teacher. And she helped mom with it!
