Can't wait for this little gem: Moana the Movie at Ster-Kinekor - GIVEAWAY

Disney, Moana, Moana the Movie
Disney's Moana
Ever since I've seen the first trailer of Moana the Movie at The Disney Showcase I knew we would definitely be making a plan to see it! (Luckily we love animation just as much even more as Little Miss!). We are going to see it on Thursday evening!

Moana is an animation about a young girl from the Hawaiian island, who has set her sights on a fabled island and makes her journey towards that place. She uses her navigational talents to set sail for a fabled island. Joining her on the adventure is her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui.
The Moana official trailer on YouTube: Moana

Ster-Kinekor has given me one set of 4 tickets for a giveaway to go see the movie on 3 December at a Ster-Kinekor cinema nearest to you, anywhere within South Africa.

Ster-Kinekor is having an awesome day of activities planned on 3 December to complement the arrival of the movie at the cinema.

•        Movie date: Saturday, 3rd December 2016.
•        Genre: Animation.
•        Cinema: Nation-wide.

Please tell me in the comments below your favourite childhood fable that inspired you when growing up. Or: What facourite fable are you telling your children now?

Rules of the competition:

- Only one set of tickets (X4 tickets) can be given to one winner.
- The winner must reside in South Africa, and be able to get to Ster-Kinekor cinemas with their own transport on Saturday.
- The competition closes at 12 pm Thursday afternoon
…But remember, the tickets can only go to one winner, so they must be a family of X4 or X4 people who want to go see the movie on the 3rd December 2016.

Win - Premiere tickets to Disney Descendants, a Disney Channel Original Movie

The teenage kids of Disney's villains are coming to the big screen in September 2015!

Disney’s Descendants is a contemporary live-action adventure comedy that introduces the teenage progeny of Disney’s iconic characters – most notably its evil villains.

Disney’s iconic characters are living out their happy endings in Auradon, a present day idyllic kingdom.  All defeated villains have been exiled to the Isle of the Lost, a remote island where they must spend their remaining days isolated from Auradon’s modern-day luxuries.  Time passes, and the teenage son of King Beast and Queen Belle is poised to take the throne.  His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making descendants of the villains stuck on the Isle of the Lost.  The teenaged kids of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar and Cruella de Vil are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the teenage progeny of iconic Disney heroes.  The villainous parents see this as an opportunity to use their children to carry out an evil plan that will finally free.
Three readers of this blog will be able to win tickets (1 ticket allows 4 people entry) to the premiere at IL Grande at the Movies at Montecasino in Fourways on 22 August 2015 at 10 am.

Please leave a comment on this blog about why you would like to attend?
For more info: Disney

The three winners will be drawn on Monday 17 August 2015 morning at 9 am.
(The winners must be able to get to the venue on their own accounts.)

Dove Cameron stars as Mal, teenage daughter of Maleficent

Apple in Education Competition Awards 2013 coming up #appleined

The yearly Apple in Education Competition awards is happening at the end of this month.
I was extremely honoured to be asked to be a judge in one of the categories.

The aim with these awards is to reward creative use of Apple in teaching and learning!

I was expecting to see great projects, because I have seen the previous year's winners at the Apple in Education Awards, but I was blown away with the creativity! Again!

The venue was at the stunning new iLounge in Juta Street in Braamfontein.

Thr iLounge has a great view of the city with Mandela Bridge.

Each category was judged by 3 people. Each of us sat with all of the projects in a category, and gave our own marks and notes on each of the projects. After that we went through all the projects again, and it was extremely satisfying to see that the individual thoughts concurred to select the best three.

The children in the category Gr 5 - 7 mostly made projects in iMovie, and we had one Keynote presentation to judge as well!  It was so inspiring to see what they are able to do!

I can't wait to see the projects of the final winners in all of the categories! The projects come from schools all over the education spectrum; from government to private schools.

It made me excited again to think that this type of technology are helping - and should be implemented more - to level the educational standard in South Africa!

I wish we could put this in all of our children's hands!

A Freshline voucher up for grabs

I have noticed Freshline products before in Spar, but I was not aware of how many products there are or what it is about.

This is what they have to say about their Freshline range:
"All Freshline products can be traced from soil to store, ensuring you cook and serve with confidence!
This peace of mind promise is backed by our commitment to sustainable farming practices and the fact that all our suppliers are audited in accordance with international food safety standards.
Food quality, traceability and safety are our highest priority!"
The fact that they are "committed to green farming practices", makes it an easy choice for me!

Disclosure: I got a R 200.00 gift voucher to try the Freshline products that are available in Spar.

The basket with Freshline goodies, which I spent on vegetables and fruit

Gooseberries, an imported product which I could not resist

The blueberries are imported as well
(Both berries are great in lunch boxes)
Freshness

The best, the good people of Freshline have supplied me with a R 300.00 gift voucher that I can give away on this blog!

To win, please comment below and tell me just one fresh vegetable or fruit that you love to put in your little one's lunch box!
It is always a head-scratch to find something that you know is healthy, but will also appeal to the changing taste buds of our little ones.

I will do the draw next Friday, the 20th September, at 9 am.

(Unfortunately only for people in South Africa.)

Happy weekend!

See you on the next plane!

My travel vision board

I have a vision board on my computer about the places I want to go. It has been there since the start of 2012. It is mostly local South African places, not even overseas destinations…
(Maybe that is the problem?)

In my future vision I am going to Mozambique to swim with the dolphins.

I am going to Cape Town to eat fish at the Waterfront and at all the Bays. I am going to travel on all the wine routes, and taste wine and champagne and wine and champagne. (I have done a little bit of it, but it is something to do on a regular basis! Tick!)

I am going to the Drakensberg Mountains, and climb a few of those chain ladders again. (I have done it before. Tick!)

I am going to spend lazy afternoons on the beach at the Dolphin Coast in Kwazulu-Natal. (I have been there, this year at Umdloti, but it is still one of my favourite local destinations for a great family holiday! Tick!)

Up until now I have been doing vicarious travels to overseas destinations through the pages of books. And magazines. And blogs. And Facebook.
I have been sharing in the glorious travels of family and friends.
I have been soaking in the sun from pages glaring from destinations from white beaches and aquamarine water and mountains touching the clouds and open bush spaces littered with roaming wild life, and bustling skyscrapers and churches and castles bursting with history.

But I haven’t been there myself…

I wish that I could say that it is enough to have quelled my travel-lust, but of course we all know that it does not work like that!
Instead it fuels the desire to board the next plane to an exotic destination with an exotic name that needs to be Googled when you hear it first!
I want to go “there”!

I realize I desperately need to upgrade my vision board, and what a better way than to start today with this kick-in-the butt inspiration from the Travelstart Blogger Experience Contest being run.

Thumbs!
See you on the next plane!

What's in my camera bag?

Empty camera bag

I lost my little Digital camera during our recent robbery, when we still thought we were safe in our complex. It was not even in an ordinary camera bag, but in a red pencil case. They still found it!
I saw Jenty taking part in a competition for a camera bag.
My new camera (which is going to be exactly the same as the one I lost) definitely needs a new bag!
I love the one shown over at Camera Couture. That is definitely a very fine camera bag to have!

This is what I will have in my camera bag:

- Camera
- Extra SD card
- "Instax Mini Instant Camera (1) by Fujifilm. They print credit card-sized photos on bold new Fuji film (3)"
- Camera battery charger
- Tripod
- Purse
- Tissues
- Hand sanitizer
- Hand cream
- Lip Ice
- Lipstick
- Pepper spray
- Pocket knife
- Pens
- Keys
- iPad
- Blackberry
- (My life)

This would all fit nicely in my camera bag! *Thumbs crossed!*

The competition is still open until the 31st of July!

I have my eyes on the new vintage lace around cardi...
