McDonald's Happy Meal Readers makes us HAPPY!

McDonald's commitment to families and reading, one book at a time!

McD's and us. We have a long history with McD's. It's always been a go-to spot when the energy is low, and we wanted something quick. It's also easy on the budget. The Happy Meal toys have been a big draw-card, for the children and for the mom. That's why we are so excited about the newest launch: There is now a choice between a Happy Meal Toy OR a BOOK! How awesome is that?



McDonald's is introducing a book series by world-renowned author and illustrator Cressida Cowell in 82 markets. Considering that they started this initiative in Sweden in 2001, we are very late to the offering. But we are so happy it is finally here!

From now on we can have the choice of a book or a toy. A new book in the series will be introduced every two weeks. That leaves a week for a toy, and a week for a book... O, happy! ;-)

The Happy Meal Reader will also be the same price as the Happy Meal Toy.

“We believe that the collaboration of McDonald’s scale and Cowell’s notoriety and expertise has the ability to excite children and families around the world, making reading fun through truly together moments,” says Daniel Padiachy, McDonald’s South Africa Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.
This exclusive series will also be available through a digital interactive reading experience on McDonald’s Global Happy Meal App, Happy Studio. This provides families with the joy of reading at their fingertips and evolves our commitment to reading even further. We are proud to help inspire a passion for reading in kids through Happy Meal Readers, which is an integral part of our Commitment to Families.
